Dog's Favorite Toy Must Never be Lost in Adorable Picture Book
Favorite Toy is Never to be Lost
Favorite Toy is Always a Dog's Treasure
All pet parents know that their dog has a favorite toy. Pet parents sometimes must take time to search for a missing toy that their dog loves. A dog may have dozens of other toys, but if the favorite goes missing, a dog will search for hours to find the toy.
Dev Petty's adorable picture book Don't Lose Mr. Cuddles is one that all pet parents will relate to when a favorite dog toy goes missing. Chip accidentally ate a bee and his parents felt so sorry for his pain. They took him to the pet store to choose a new toy. Chip chose a purple bunny and named him Mr. Cuddles. Mr. Cuddles became the favorite toy of all time. Chip had many things that he would not mind losing. He would not mind losing a ball. He would not mind losing a bone because the bone fairy could bring more. Chip would not mind losing his dog tag because he could just get a new one. The one important toy that could never be lost was Mr. Cuddles. Cuddles is not bothered by lost things that belong to his person. Chip discovered that Mr. Cuddles was missing and he wondered if he did something to cause Mr. Cuddles to go missing. He looked everywhere. Chip has a suspect that he feels may have taken Mr. Cuddles. A surprise ending finds Mr. Cuddles with the suspect and Chip decides to share Mr. Cuddles for a while.
Mike Boldt contributed adorable and colorful illustrations for Don't Lose Mr. Cuddles. The illustrations are large and engaging as Chip tells his story of his best loved toy.
Don't Lose Mr. Cuddles is recommended for ages 3-8. It was published by Doubleday Books for Young Readers, a division of Penguin/Random House. It has an ISBN of 978-0-593-90075-8.

Bring Mr. Cuddles to Your Classroom
Teachers who teach in early education classrooms will want to add this adorable picture book to their classroom library. Pets are always a topic that young children enjoy. Don't Lose Mr. Cuddles provides the opportunity for teachers to add several curriculum activities to help young children learn to take care of their pet.
*Read Don't Lose Mr. Cuddles in a story time session. Call attention to the fact that Chip is beloved dog in the family. Take a class poll of the number of children who have pets at home. How many are dogs? How many are cats?
*Prepare a math activity with a picture graph of dogs and cats. Record the number of dogs with small dog stickers and the number of cats with small cat stickers. Engage the children in reading and counting the graph.
*Engage children in a discussion of a favorite toy that their pet has. Provide time during the week for children to bring their pet's favorite toy to share with the class.
*Organize a class activity for children to bring a stuffed toy to donate to an animal shelter in your community. Invite a speaker from the local animal shelter to your class. Prepare to donate the toys to the shelter.
*Dev Petty dedicates her delightful picture book to all of the dogs and cats in shelters that do not have a forever home or their own Mr. Cuddles. Plan a visit to your local animal shelter if possible for your class to take the stuffed toys for every animal in the shelter.
