It's not what you're after, but I have had an article printed in two of our county newspapers and that felt damned good. I can only surmise that being paid to write stories would put me on cloud nine with a severe inability to come down.
Now if I can just write something that I actually get paid for...
Well, I'm self-published. Feels pretty good, because you know your work is immortalized at the Library of Congress. Beyond that, it's way over-hyped.
it is quite unbelievable when you receive your first cheque, the fact that, not only have you won the race for that page in the magazine, but also that they are paying for it. What is better, every acceptance and cheque you receive after the first feels just as great.
As a published romance author, there is truly something to be said about creating a world that your readers can escape to, enjoy the journey for as long as they are there and walking away with a smile of satisfaction on their faces and a sense of appreciation in their hearts for the story you shared.
It just doesn't get any better than that.
