I read. And I surround myself with highly creative people. As a writer, you can join a writers group and writing conferences. You can attend readings. Not only can you showcase your work and get feedback, you can critique the work of others. If you can latch onto a mentor or two, that's even better.
The same goes when you are creating things. There are so many organizations who focus on the crafts. There are lots of generous people out there who are willing to teach beginners and get them started.
Nature, I love to have my family near but I feel comfortable writing while outdoors admiring water, trees, the sky, colors etc.
