    Amazon and Smashwords (both at once) are your best bet. Amazon will cover the Kindle, and Smashwords covers most of the other eBook readers, Nook, Sony, Apple etc. It is quite a long winded and complex process formatting your eBook for publishing through either Amazon or Smashwords, as each have very different formatting and layout requirements. I tried to do convert my Step Dad's books to eBook formats and got in a right mess. Luckily I found someone who could do it for me really cheaply.     The best ebook publishing company that I know of is Lulu.  It's free to publish an eBook and it is automatically on iBooks, so it is a great way to promote your work.  I hope this helps!
