How has your experience been like as you adapt to the rapidly developing world of technology?

I recently downloaded the "HubPages" application on my android phone. I realized how different the literary world is now compared to a few years ago. Writing is one of the oldest forms of communication between human beings and yet it seems that unless you jump on the technology bandwagon, you will get left behind. I wonder what Ernest Hemingway would think about my new phone app...

I agree that if you do not keep up with technology you can fall behind, but I also think there should be limits. My generation relies on computers, the internet, cell phones, iPods, iPads, etc. much more than the generation before us, simply because it wasn't around during their time. However, I only deal with the basics. I don't feel the need to have everything at my fingertips because like many before myself, I enjoy physically holding a book in my hands as I read. I like being able to turn and smell crisp, new pages as the words come alive. It is a true reading experience. I'm not saying that one can't have that same feeling while using a Nook or Kindle, but I prefer doing things the old way. Therefore, not all of my experiences have been as affected by technology as most. I still find simple pleasures and true value in certain activities that did not always require technology, such as writing work out instead of immediately typing it. Hence, I will not be as quick as most to upgrade by "[jumping] on the technology bandwagon."

I completely agree. As creative individuals, we need to hold on to the simple and organic methods of entertaining ourselves, as well as those that help our craft. Being technologically savvy can be advantageous, but staying grounded is important, too
