    Where did these words originate?

The English language has borrowed words from other cultures through time. listed here are some words, can you tell me where these words came from?
    Moped,  Pepperoni,  Slalom,  Honcho,  Ukulele.
If no one gets the right answer I will post the answer on Friday 10/19/2012

I would imagine Slalom is Jewish? It sounds a lot like Shalom.

It does sound Jewish, however it is not , think more northern. Nice try though, keep up the good work and thank you for taking the time to answer the question.

The easy ones are pepperoni (Italian), Ukulele (Hawaiian), and Honcho (Japanese). Moped is an abbreviated conjunction of "Motor" and "Pedal". Pedal is a Latin-derived word where "ped" refers to the foot. I don't know where motor comes from. I also don't know the origin of slalom.

Very good with Pepperoni, correct, Honcho, correct, Ukulele, correct. But it saddens me to say that you have the wrong answer for Moped. Please try again and remember Friday I will reveal the answers.
