What authors would be best to read when studying character development?
I've read Stephen King, pretty much exclusively, for most of my life. I understand the way he really allows the reader to connect with his characters, but I know there are other authors out there who are just as good at this. Suggestions?
I grew up reading Stephen King too. In the non horror genre I've found Sebastian Faulks to create characters that are so real that I often find myself thinking about them. Eg On Green Dolphin Street not even one of his best. There's character development in there definitely. Look him up on wiki he's well respected.
