    It certainly would prove the thesis statement IMHO. Perhaps too it can be measured whether you were able to get the message across to the reader. I dun'no  . . . good thought to ponder awhile. :-)

    No, because sharing your story in that regard is usually done to teach others not to replicate that failure.
    If you didn't intend others to read it, you wouldn't have tried to publish and sell it.
