It all depends on what your PURPOSE is for your article. If you are trying to explain something, then write an expository article. If you are arguing something or trying to persuade your audience of something, then write an argumentative article. If you are critiquing an argument, then write a rhetorical analysis. If you are trying to entertain, then write a narrative story.
