Freedoms Concealing Cultural Decline: A Satirical Poem

Ever since Mozart got replaced with rap

my impersonating a poet is feeling just fine

with so many free tastes nothing turns a crap

beer gets you drunk just like an expensive wine.

When I was young love movies were discreet

and everyone was waiting for that final kiss

now without a porn scene it's incomplete

well, let everyone follow their own bliss.

Freedom of expression got a new meaning

we got to express our crude and ugly side

imitation of art is where culture is leaning

finesse chronically ill, if not already died.

Times are changing, or it would only seem

for we just display that which we used to hide

now making too real what used to be our dream

in this parade of freedom in which we take the ride.

Shakespeare, other biggies were using rhymes

now it's prose only put in narrow poetry frame

well, that was a mark of more artistic times

but freedom makes of it a different game.

So don't ask why poetizing became my game

find your own replacement for Byron and Mozart

in this world where freedom conceals cultural shame

splash some paint all over canvas and call it your own art.
