How to Research on your Topics

The process of writing involves gathering and arranging information to express a point of view. Doing an extensive research before writing your article not only helps you to put out very good contents , but also helps in improving your writing skills . The ensuing article will provide some basic guidelines on how to research on your topics before writing . It will also discuss how an extensive research before writing your contents can improve your writing skills .


Before you start writing on any topic , even when you are not sure of the article that you are going to write , You must always make the the effort to collect material through [extensive] research and interviews Talk to people to generate ideas. Compile extensive notes on the research done.


Read a major newspaper and several magazines especially on topics of your interest. Look especially for in depth stories on current issues. Also keep a note book with you and jot down ideas and insights that occurs to you. You should also keep in your notebook a collection of new vocabularies you've learnt . Keep a file of news papers and magazine clippings about a variety of topics that interest you. Read book reviews regularly to keep up with current hot topics and keep on a list of books that interest you.


Watch for announcements lectures and public appearances by figures of current interests/public figures e.g. Politicians, educators, writers and other prominent individuals - especially ones in the areas you write about. Attend presses too conference when you can.


Search for in depth stories on current issues , interviews , press conference and the news media . this is one of the secretes in writing a very good article.


Assess people's mind on popular issues or discussions. Gather materials from research and interviews. When you are in a group, draw people out about what they do and what they are interested in. Interview people and learn their personal experiences. You can site these experiences as examples in your writings. Listen to news (from credible news source). Listen to speeches of prominent and influential people especially in your area of interest or what your topics are related to .


The Internet also has lots of information that you can read and gather ideas from . Educational materials are available at all levels on websites and the Information on the internet is constantly being updated . Searching for information on the internet is also fast and allows for greater flexibility in working . It's very important that as a writer , you have access to high speed internet connection . This not only allows you to have access to unlimited information but you can also be access it from anywhere . Whenever any idea pops up in your mind and you want to read on , you can just access it on your mobile device , laptop or tablet . You will also be able to edit your online publications from anywhere . You can also use the local library in searching for information .
