My grandmother used to say there is a story everyday in your life if you will pay attention and look for it. Writing that story does develop the mind and open up the emotions and it helps when others read your story.

Very interesting and informative hub! I hadn't consciously thought of it but, yes, writing does help develop the mind. It also helps develop the emotions and personality as a whole. Since I started writing my poetry (be it as it may) I have become more expressive and willing to share my feeling as well. Thanks for a great read!
