Holiday Joy

Updated on November 17, 2011

Uncle Larry's Holiday Joy

It happened once on Thanksgiving,
eating turkey and dressing that's living.
At the end of the meal, everyone stuffed their bellies,
with homemade bread, and candied jellies.
But wait, the turkey neck is still on the platter,
Uncle Larry thought, 'everyone is full, it won't matter.'
The neck in his hand, he said '' No one will miss'er,''
And that's when he got, a big fist in the kisser.
The fight was on, and food was flying through the air,
Aunt Ruth ended up, with mash potatoes in her hair.
Uncle Ben had his face, pushed down into his plate,
'' Watch out for those beans, oh man, its to late!''
Those are the things, you remember as a boy,
of turkey, fun things, fights, and holiday joy.

Hi Jesusmyjoy - Michigan is a beautiful state, and is where I was born. But I spent a lot of years in the south, and that is where I would rather be. So in a couple of years when I retire, I will be heading for South Carolina. Thanks for stopping by.

Hi Jason -I remember gnawing on the neck when I was a young'un. I had four brothers and two sisters. So when we ate, nothing went to waste. Thanks for stopping by and for the comments.

Awesome. Oh yes, my mom used to boil the neck and the gizzard and my older brothers ate them. I think they were trying to show how tough they were, because I sure was impressed :D
