Lonelyness having lost a loved one

Updated on November 5, 2012

Lost Love

I have seen a tie thrown carelessly across the floor

seen a love-sick animal that barks no more

And felt the pangs of loneliness.

I have seen a shirt slung needlessly across a chair

watched that love - sick animal with eyes that stare

And felt a twinge of emptiness.

In the night a tear has foolishly slid down my cheek

followed by so many tears for love I seek

And sleep has failed to greet me.

In the day a smile has forcibly spread o'er my face

trying to abandon love that's left its trace

But joy has failed to reach me,.

I have seen your eyes appealingly from wooden frame

Seen those ties and shirts are still the same

and felt return of loneliness,

known the twinge of emptiness,

And loved you even more

Thank you, saddlerider1 , for calling it a beautiful poem. I hope it didn´t give you a heavy heart for too long.Sometimes the feelings just have to come out onto paper.

I ´m sure playing guitar must be a wonderful thing to help different moods. I wish l could play.

This beautiful poem cast dark shadows across my room and plucks a cord of blue on my lonely guitar and makes me pick it up to play awhile with heavy heart. Peace and hugs

Hey blaise., I like your 'take' on my poem. It was written in a sort of cryptic way a long time ago. Can't believe it's getting so much attention after all these years.

I was actually thinking of my poor dad on losing my mum to lukemia(cancer of the blood) There were times when I felt I'd lost both parents, bu mostly my dad did a wonderful job being left with a 10 yr old and a 7 yr old.. Thanks for your interest. Maybe I should write a hub about it.

Thank you for your explanation of what this is for you. The funny thing about writing....is its all in the reading.....this can fit so well with a relationship that has died, also. Really well done, thank you, for sharing such a personaly tragic yet beautiful moment.

    Hi there, seasoning.,

Thanks for your comment. I realise it is slightly obscur. (the poem, I mean) I wrote thinking of my dad after mum died. I was 10 when she died and only after growing up did I realise how HE must have felt. They were only 32. I loved my dad so much and he kinda kept it together for my brother and me (my bro was only 7) If I write any more you'll end up having my life-story !!!! Thanks for stopping by. Pleased to meet you.
