So Close But Yet So Far

Infinite, Point Reyes

What happened, we were so close

how could it have turned so cold...

in the bed where we once lay

over and over... where we had rolled

We have turned a final page

to go back, it can not be done

it is over.. no more together

now we have turned.... all for one

We almost made it..

to the finish....

So close... but yet so far

we lost in the game of love

is this really....

where we are.

So close... and yet so far

these words....

will always haunt my mind.

our young love is something

we just can't seem to find.

There seems to always be a sad ending to love, just the way it is in this old world, but it is my hope that people will learn how to love with outgoing love, not selfish love, I hope that day will come soon for us all.

Michael, great expressions of loss and sadness. Downcast and subdued poem, you voiced these feelings very skillfully, very touching.

Great poetry. You've captured the pain of separation, or end of a love affair beautifully ,Michael, and obviously turned it into something lovely.

There is nothing as detrimental to a relationship as a fire gone cold. If we do not keep those fires kindled, it will die out. We grow apart, we lose interest and give up: life becomes humdrum. So close yet so far. Great poem and well done.

Hm...two living together yet being worlds apart? It happens a lot, unfortunately for some it takes longer to realize how different they may be, or just not right for each other, or can no longer find right words to say..close but far at the same time. Nice writing Michael.
