starless part two
the first chapter of STARLESS was written brilliantly by Slarty O'Brian. It is an on going book and this second part is my attempt at furthering the story, hopefully, not causing too many flaws. I hope a third author will come along and contribute. take care.
Governor Sean Right sat behind the big grey granite desk. As bulky and heavy a desk that ever was... It held many secrets... or at least it did. It had been made to withstand a blast for any weapon that could be found on this god forsaken planet. But someone had invaded his desk, his secret compartment with the code only known by him had been decimated. The scowl on his face was evidence enough to prove his bad mood, too bad the lackey that had brought him his afternoon tea did not take note of it. The Governor pressed a button to have the body removed right away.
His trusted Security Guards came along with the Captain. As the Guards went about cleaning up the mess, the Captain stated.
"There is no sign of the culprit, your Honor."
Sean slapped both hands down flat against the cool smooth top of the polished rock.
"He must be found. He has everything." The Governor placed his head into his hands rubbing his face vigorously as if trying to wake up from a nightmare. He focused on the tall black haired captain with a jagged scar that resembled an R across his right cheek to signify that he was indeed the Governor's man.
"I understand, your Honor. Do you know anything? Anything that could be of help to us? No one has seen a man with Fedora hat that you described, or an overcoat. We checked for aura shadow... nothing showed up."
"Yet we have him on the camera."
The Captain bowed his head. He was at a loss. If he had not seen the video that suddenly became disrupted, he would have believed that the theif had been a ghost.
"He must be found. Don't you understand?" Sean Right stated through his clenched teeth. "This is an outrage for anyone to steal from the Governor. I want him caught and torn apart by the dogs. I want every citizen of Paradise Mound to witness what happens to those who steal from me."
"I understand. We have taken one of the most vicious of the blood hounds to search for him, but his scent will be hard to locate in this rain."
"I don't care. Find him Captain or you will be food for them instead. He has wounded me to the core."
"Yes, your honor."
"It has to be Rockbridge behind all of this. It has to be them." Talking more to himself than anyone else. He looked up at the unmoving, bland, cold expression of the Captain. He got up then and moved to stand in front of the Captain, who was a head taller. He reached up and poked the man's shoulder to emphasize every word.
"I want you to get rid of Rockbridge. We will only spare them if they give me back what they have stolen." Satisfied with this solution, Sean Right placed his Governor's face on and gave a slight smile. "Dismissed, Captain. Oh, and happy hunting."
The Captain nodded. Finally, an order that he truly understood, and could do, he thought. Although attacking Rockbridge during the rainy season, would be like Germany trying to conquer Russia in the winter. That is, if he remembered his ancient Earth history correctly. It would be very difficult indeed. But an order was an order, and so he turned to reconnoiter his troops to head out. The Captain ran through the logistics in his head of number of men, supplies, equipment, fire power, and phantses that would be required to transport such a campaign. He sighed, as he watched the grey rain fall steadily against the outer walls of the compound. It would be nice to see daylight again...........

Redmond sat quietly in the warm afterglow that filled his otherwise cold bones. He looked down at his briefcase and gave a slight smile as he patted it. With this, he could change everything.
