Thought on a Stormy Night
To Be Rigid Or Flexible
OH! What a storm., Rain lashing so fiercely,.
Unrelenting.
Palm trees fight back, their branches like tendrils,
Strong arms trying to fight off the rain.
¨Go Away! Go Away!¨ They seem to be saying,
This is our land . We don´t want you here.
Poor trees, can´t know how much this is needed.
you trees need this too, though violently swaying
you´ve needed this water as all of us do.........
The noise is incredible, the best and the worst.
Nothing so humbling as this sight.
Like nature having a fight.
Poor , lovely palm tree, just bend with the wind,
Go withe flow. It soon will be over...........
And of course, so it is.
Wind has reduced to little more than a breeze
And the palm trees are swaying, feeling at ease.
The torrential rain has finally stopped,
But we needed it so, at this time, at this place,
All this I watch from my window at night
knowing that surely by morning,
The sun will come up, the soil will feel better,
and the palm trees can give up their fight.
Their beautiful branches weren´t meant to fight,
some grow fruit, some merely a beautiful sight,.
Now the ocean is blue again.... All is calm.,
Maybe we can learn from the storm........
If we stand rigid,always unmovable,
against powerful winds we may crack!
If we bend and flow like some of the palms,
At the end of the storm ... we´re intact.!
