The Path I Walked (Poetry)
The Path I Walked
They say to live each day as your last
Before you know it, your life has passed fast
One day you're young
The next you're old and grey
Did you live your best life?
I ponder this at my local cafe
My years were decent
But I could have done more
I had dreams I wanted to explore
Instead, I chose I different road
And led myself astray
The path I walked was steep and made my footsteps slow
I passed up chances I desired most
So many years ago
They led me to where I had you
On the east coast
You were the highlight of my day
My dreams began to shift
I loved the way you cooed and played
Your life is a precious gift
I became your mom without knowing that's what I truly desired
You've shown me a love that is unconditional
Your existence I truly admire
