Poem: To Make Things Worse

Updated on January 9, 2014

by Grace Peterson

All your lies
Everything made up
Everything I believed in you,
In us,

For what?
To make things worse?
No!
You needed to get over her.
You needed to force yourself to.
You thought you'd never have a chance
and now that you think you do...

You never fell for me.
No!
To make things worse,
you admitted what I dreaded the most:
It was all her.

I asked you
hoping with all my heart
it wasn't true
That feeling I couldn't shake?
Just another lie.

I wish the one truth you told
was the only lie.
Now I'm left here
with my heart breaking
every second
I wonder who you're thinking of:
Her.
