How to Make The Most of Your Local Public Library
The Library
The local public library is a great place to borrow books for pleasure reading and also to find research material for school products. Most people are aware of some things the library has to offer, however, the library offers so much more. It is a rich resource for classes, activities for children and adults alike. In addition, the local library also raises funds for various organizations.Go to your local library and ask about their monthly newsletter and calender. Most libraries will put you on their e-mail lists and send you notifications when something new comes up. I have spent quite a bit of time in libraries, both for research and for pleasure.
Arts And Crafts
Volunteer for one or more of their fund raisers. They may have book sales, book drives, or one-hour seminars that you could help with. Get your children involved so that they may understand the joy of giving. Join the "friends of the library" organization.

Take any number of classes that the library offers for free. Some classes may have a nominal fee for materials, most will cost you nothing. As well as books, most libraries offer videos, cds, and dvds that you may borrow. The library is a great place to do research, it is quiet and they have great research librarians to help you!
In addition to all the books, videos, cds and dvds, the library is a rich resource for both modern and classic art. They have craft shows and painting classes.
Not only can one read and borrow books from the library, but one can also borrow records, videos. and sometimes even wall art.
