The Sourwood Tree is also called the “Lily Of The Valley” or simply the Appalachian Lily Tree. Sometimes growing over 60 feet tall, Sourwood trees only bloom in summer during a small window of time from late June until the end of July. The flowers are white and bell-shaped, often appearing in numerous clusters up to six inches long. Considered by many to be the best honey in the world, Sourwood honey, despite its name, is certainly not sour.
