Willie Can You Tell Me

Updated on May 9, 2011

Somewhere and somehow I got old

Believing all the lies they told

I never used to think it true

Believed every word

About the Red, White and Blue

Now please don’t get me wrong

And think I don’t respect

All that our servicemen do

It’s just that my mind won’t allow me

No doubt,

or to sit back and let others figure it out

You think I am cynical

I think you’re too young

To know what I’m trying to say

I had all the answers

Just the way you have yours

Till they foreclosed on my home today

I’ve worked thirty years, and I’ve paid in

So I’d have some SEE-CURE-ITY

But the banker says move out

And move now – I can’t take very much of what’s me

Now what ever happened to hard work

And making your way in this world

What happened to God fearing people

And seeing our flag fly unfurled

I never doubted our system

Though it took two husbands from me

I raised up their children to do right

And now they are laughing at me

I’m too old to start this all over

I’m too tired to try it again

Just tell me one thing if you would please

Tell me when did these lies all begin?

.....greatest couple ever at Hubland - Willie and Poohgranma - love Willie - he's the man and love you - you're the woman! Where do I fit into this scenario - I'd like a piece of this 'action' -

..but yes I am struggling to make ends meet and this is Canada - never has my 'future' seemed so uncloudy and so uncertain - but one thing I am clear and certain about - and that is how you can provoke, move and touch me with your confrontational words of clarity, truth and honesty!

You've hit the nail on the head! My laid back, tired of fighting attitude creeps right in. Thank-you for your honesty.

Sorry I directed my frustration toward you. If I don't speak plainly enough the fault is mine not the listener's.

My sincere apologies and thanks for unaccustomed prayer!

"Tell me how to write more powerfully so that there is no doubt that my message is so!" Read Mickey Dee's comment, his words carry lightening.

And my comment was in no way a criticism, more an unaccustomed pray for you.

Poohgranma - Very powerful stuff you are writing with your rhyming words....:-) While there is much wrong with our country, I think that we should also try to remember what is right about it as well. This is America, and we vote them in and we can vote them out, but we also have become an apathetic nation, if all of the people who see what is wrong, took an interest in fixing it, then there is a stronger possibility that it will be fixed. Perhaps your work here is a beginning, an inspiration that will help to lead others to answer that call...Lovely poem about a sad state of affairs. A well told tale of woe that is our current reality (but doesn't HAVE to be our future!) Good job! Keep up the good work!

America has become so fixed on being "correct" that it is endangering and hurting many others. Pooh, this poem is a sad but right on truth.

"Poohgranma, this is a very sad tale. Hopefully all fiction."

Fiction? No it is not fiction. It is the truth, every word - to some American, some Middle Class working family, some Veteran, some single parent or young couple, some elderly who, ALL are being ground up in the gears of our Governments out of control spending, misplaced alliances whose only interests are more power, more money, more control!

    I wish it was fiction.

    Three weeks ago you wrote this;

"Freedom to do as your told

Kick dead babies to the side of the road _

Find wars for those found too bold

Let seniors rot in the cold_"

Why would you say I tell a very sad tale that you hope is fiction? I feel as if I'm drowning and my writing produces nothing that will be heard.

Tell me how to write more powerfully so that there is no doubt that my message is so!

Mickey Dee: THEY can't take away honor, or integrity. THEY can’t undo courage under fire. And THEY can’t hide the truth forever. There are many people who are lifting their heads and looking around now, more and more people are paying attention because people like you are screaming at the top of your lungs that the place is on fire. People are waking up, because of your work and others like you.

    Dear Pooh - it's beautiful.

Dear girl I am so lost in this world.

I am so sick of the LIE that is America.

America is a lie. There mis NO freedom of speech. In reality - I have nobody to actually SPEAK to. Whatever truths I have dug up from the belly of this beast is NOT welcome. For every word I can speak - there are a thousand or m illion or billion voices to drown me out and dispute all the research of an honets life.

And - an honest life isn't valued in America.

America has taught me that America loves the con, the fraud, the evil.

I don't give two toots about the opinion of me. I want to tattoo my entire body with the truth so that I'll have to be burned or eaten at sea like Bin Laden. They can destroy all the evidence of my being here. It's appropriate.

I'm sick of this lie that is America where EVERY COUNTRY has to be invaded and brought into "step". EVERY person/being/human resource

But what I am being disgusted with is this two party money machine that takes the dignity from ev reryone it touches. I want God's intervention./ This is NOT AN AMERICA IO FOUGHT FOR. THIS REPUBLICAN/DEMOCRATIC HORSEPUCKY IS A LIE.

Thank you dear Pooh. This is a wonderful hub.

And may these devils from hell that have this world BY THE THROAT - may our benevolent God intercede.

I want my eyes wide open for this intercession! God bless you dear. God bless you.

    God bless our Wille!
