Winter Night Walk

Updated on January 10, 2012

This poem is for all who enjoy night walks in the snow and for those who wish they could.

Midnight in winter,

A time of wonder.

Go out in it to walk and ponder.

Moonlight and stars light your way

Upon shimmering snow in crystal display.

Ice cold air - Invigorates!

Then steals your breathe away.

You stop and listen.

What is it you hear?

The hush of quiet

Far and near.

You venture more on this wonderous night.

Peace and calm surround you -

All feels right.

Soon slumber beckons

You must return.

As you settle in dreamily and turn off your light

You bid all the world a peaceful good night.

Beautiful, Lyn. Makes me miss walking out in the snow when I have never even been in snow. You paint such a lovely picture of solitude, cold and warmth, they feel so good together. Thanks for writing.
