Poetry Books As Gifts
Fire and Ice - A Book of Verse
By Loretta Livingstone
A book of wonderful poems to make you laugh a little, sigh a little, maybe cry a little, and pray a little, all printed on beautiful backdrops of snow, ice and rainbows. It will make lovely, inexpensive gifts for those hard-to-buy-for people. I think people will love poetry books as gifts.
There are funny ones, because we all need to laugh, and spiritual ones, because God is so much part of my life that I can't help but write about Him.. Love poems....well, of course!!! All sorts of poems. A real mix. There really should be something for everyone. I LIKE variety! Go take a look. Follow the link below.
You're more than welcome to read the book online, even if you don't buy it. I just hope that it will bless you, or at least make you chuckle! Please bear in mind, though, that all my work (including the photographs) is protected by copyright and may not be used without prior permissipn.
As those of you with older computers or smaller screens may not be able to read the poems on the photographs I've added the words besdie them.
More than "mere poetry"
Hey, guess what? You don't just get poetry in this book....good tho' that would be. Each poem is printed on beautiful pictures of the Cairngorms. Take a look. these are just a few of the pictures I've used. The poems are all printed on white...believe it or not, it works!
Another picture from my book
Beautiful, isn't it? My husband and I took all the pictures used in this book ourselves.

Ladies Who Lunch?
Interesting table manners!
"Ladies Who Lunch?
Slurping, chomping
Snarfing, munching.
These are never ladies lunching!
Burping, belching,
Drooling slobber,
Jostling in their woolly clobber
I am standing
Very deep
In a field of hungry sheep!

When I Am Gone
"When I Am Gone
When I am gone
let memories of me
comfort and warm you
like a loving embrace.
Let each thought of me
bring a smile to your lips
and each remembrance
be like my kiss."

Stolen Peace
This poem should make you chuckle, but there is a truth here which I'm sure you'll recognise
"Stolen Peace
I screamed "My peace is stolen"
I stamped my foot and cried
I sobbed and ranted out to God,
I would not be denied.
The Father smiled gently
And answered to my frown
"No one stole your peace, My
child,
You simply put it down"

A tribute to my favourite teacher.
This guy really knew how to teach! At only 10 years old he imbued me with so much knowledge and a real hunger to know more. I only wish he was still alive to read my tribute to him. We need more teachers like this.
"To My Teacher
Class of 1968
You taught us
to love words
and spelling
To sing all the verses
of the National Anthem
You taught us
the "alternative version"
to "Land of Hope and Glory"
You gave us a love of language,
music and learning
So many of your pupils
loved you
and returned to school to see you
I hope you knew
what became of us all
and
what we did
with the legacy
of your teaching"

It's Time
Time for what? Time to get to know God better. Life is so much less without Him.
"It's Time
It's Time
Time to meet your Creator
Here in the Dark
Are you Afraid?
He is the Light
That burns through
All Darkness.
Bright enough to blind you!
Bright enough to burn away
All badness
He Is Love
And He's here !
NOW !
Do you dare?
You heard about prayer
what is it?
It's you, calling out to Jesus Christ
In the darkness.
Call Him, and know His love
AND LIVE !"

'Til Then
A poem about love, loss and a hope for the future
"Til Then
You grew so old,
so weak, so frail,
it broke my heart to see you stay,
and broke my heart to let you go;
But now you stand
youthful again, and strong,
you hold your Saviour's hand,
and I am left alone;
How should I grieve
when He,
Who sent for you
to be with Him,
sees you young and strong and lithe again,
and all your
vigour now renewed.
I know
that we will meet again,
and dance and shout,
together praise His Name,
so 'til that day I'll hold you in my heart."

My Poems as Place Mats and Mouse Mats
I have recently had a brilliant idea. I realised that some of my poems would be perfect as mouse mats and place mats, so with that in mind I am in the process of creating some. Here are aome samples. don't they look nice. Click the photo to find out more.
Your Opinion
I would love to know what you think. Feedback is always good.
If there was a book with poems on an athletics theme, would you buy?
Watch out salesmen!
Hey, here's a surprise - I just had a double glazing salesman come to my door. He didn't make a sale - but I did! He went away with my book clutched under his arm.
A first for me
On 18th October I did my very first book signing at a large local restaurant. Exciting stuff. When God gives you a great opportunity, be sure to grasp it with both hands. Don't forget to thank Him.
I have now been invited to appear at a Charity Ball/Auction for Children with Cancer charity, alongside Team GB marathon runner Aly Dixon! What an amazing invitation to receive.

What to buy for the person who doesn't know what they want
Christmas/birthday gifts
We all have one in our lives - the person who says "Oh buy me anything, I'm easy" But the list of things they don't like is far, far bigger than the list of things they do like. So what on earth do you get them for birthday or Christmas? Well, you could try my book. At the best they'll love it, and the worst they won't - but hey, you had a 50/50% chance of that happening anyway. Scroll down for details of two more of my books.

I just saw this idea on somebody else's lens (Favoured1, I hope you don't mind me borrowing your idea) and it seemed like a good idea to find out more about how this works.

A Few Reviews
Just a couple of reviews I received:
Fire and Ice
Thanks so much for the books, they arrived today. Once opened, I delved into my copy - I'm in awe. It's exquisite. The poems are so full of feeling, and mean so much, and the photography complements them.

This is a must read. It will make you laugh and inspire you. If you haven't ordered a copy, please do. I love mine.

Hopes, Dreams & Medals
Loretta has such a fantastic range. Her poems can be faithful, inspirational, funny or just plain cute. I'm a big fan of the Olympics and sports in general, and I could find so many of my own emotions in these poems. My Boy is one of my favorites because it describes me, the true soccer mom, to a T! And King of Speed is just without a doubt my younger son! Thank you so much Loretta for your beautiful words that express what I often feel but can't describe! Wonderful book!
