Image Comics

Image Comics

Image comics is a comic book company that I have followed since they arrived in 1992 and since then they have been a big influence in the comic book market with top notch computer colouring and artwork that has been imitated by new up and coming artists for years.

The company comprised of 6 leading comic book artists/writers who were a bit fed up of the way marvel comics would take on full ownership of the characters that they created and so embarked on a new venture where they would be in full control of their most treasured comic book characters and comic book concepts.

Todd McFarlane created Spawn and is consistently one of the top selling comic books of all time and Todd toys continues to produce some of the finest action figure collectibles in the market.

Rob Liefeld created Youngblood for image comics under the separate Extreme studio and went onto create multiple titles for that studio and many artists have worked alongside his comic book studio ventures since, including Stephen Platt and Chap Yaep.

Erik Larsen created Savage Dragon a personal favourite of mine and his writing and stories continue to build his world of the dragon quite well I think.

Jim Lee created Wildcats and many other projects under Wildstorm studios and can be seen drawing batman and superman and many other DC comics characters as he is head honcho over there.

Whilce Portacio created Wetworks which I liked the art, so I bought it anyway, Whilce is doing the rounds all over comic book world with his art.

Jim Valentino created Shadowhawk, a vigilante character that would eventually die, but Jim does many comic book writing and creations elsewhere.

I'd like to get back into collecting more comic books again and image comics is a great place to start!
