15 Things to Do on Sundays to Prepare Yourself for the Week

Updated on August 4, 2018

What on earth should I do this Sunday?

I don't know about you, but I refuse to do anything productive on a Saturday. Saturday is for going out with your friends or staying at home doing nothing all day. Nothing else is allowed. Monday through Friday are usually hectic. These days are spent trying to survive school or work. That leaves us with Sunday. The last day before the week officially starts, and the perfect day to get stuff done! What needs to be done, you might ask. Well, here are just a few things!

15. Sleep in.

First and foremost, the most important thing. Try to sleep in! It's your last day to catch some extra zzz's for an entire week. Try not to wake up super early!

14. Spend at least an hour pampering yourself.

Girls and guys, you need to give yourself some attention. Take a long bath or shower, put on your face mask, wax whatever you need to wax, shave whatever you need to shave, brush your teeth with some baking soda, trim or repaint your nails, work out, eat a healthy meal, etc. Take care of yourself. You may need more than an hour, that's fine, but try to at least get an hour in each Sunday to focus on yourself.

13. Do your chores.

Usually, during the week, I try to do the least amount of chores as possible. I don't wanna do anything when I come home from school except relax. My parents are, luckily, perfectly fine with that because not many chores need to be done around the house anyway and as long as I actually do what I said I'd do on Sunday, they're fine. Let me repeat that. When you say you're gonna do your chores on Sunday and they're willing to actually allow that, do your chores on Sunday like you said you would.

If you're grown and you get to decide when you do your chores without having to ask anyone, good for you. Still, do your chores. Don't keep putting them off. Be strict with yourself and get it done because you know you're not gonna wanna do it during the week.

12. Do your homework.

If you get assigned homework during the weekend, make sure you do it on Sunday if you're not one of those people who like to go ahead and get it out of the way on Friday. I usually save mine for Sunday because Sunday is my productive day anyway. If I don't busy myself on Sunday, I spend the whole day worrying about the fact that tomorrow is the start of a new, tiring week. Why do that when I could be doing my homework?

11. Reorganize everything.

Things tend to get a bit messy during the week. Your bag, your closet, your kitchen, your bathroom. Reorganizing everything you messed up throughout the week usually won't take more than thirty minutes. Try to get everything back into place every Sunday instead of waiting until everything gets insanely dirty and disorganized.

10. Get those tiny tasks done.

Throughout the week there are always things you wanna do but just don't have the energy to. Whether it's calling someone, googling something, throwing something away, editing your project again or going through the mail, just go ahead and do it on Sunday so you can start the next week off fresh without constantly thinking about all the small things you need to be doing and stressing yourself out more.

9. Meal prep.

You don't have to be following a diet to meal prep. Preparing your meals for the week is a great way to take some stress off your shoulders. Spend an hour or two every Sunday making your meals for the week so you have one less thing to worry about later on! You don't even have to prepare every meal. Maybe just prepare your breakfast and snacks as they'll probably be the easiest things to go ahead and get out of the way (and who really has the time to make breakfast every morning?) and write down what you wanna make for lunch and dinner that week.

8. Exercise.

Maybe Sunday is the only day in the week that you actually get to exercise. Do it! You're already being productive, might as well go ahead and get your workout in.

7. Watch a movie.

Try to watch a new movie every Sunday! This is a fun way to wind down and relax and you can stay a little up to date with current movies so you won't feel like you're out of the loop. You don't have to go to the movie theater just to watch a new movie. You can watch it on Netflix, Hulu, Itunes, Youtube, or whatever other websites you can find it on! A movie night at home is fun and relaxing!

6. Find new music.

If you're a music lover like me, you probably always want to find something new to listen to. I personally don't listen to the radio much, I just find songs on Youtube to listen to, but the thing is, new music gives me anxiety. I'm the type of person who likes to know the lyrics so I can sing along. When listening to something new, I feel anxious and in a rush to see whether or not I'll actually like it. This is a lot worse when I randomly decide to listen to something new, but when I know that I have time to actually listen to and enjoy the music, I feel a lot better. I always schedule at least thirty minutes to listen to new songs or artists. Make a list of songs or artists you've been meaning to listen to and when Sunday comes, give them a listen!

5. Catch up on your TV shows.

I think it's odd that I feel like I've been productive when I finally catch up on a TV show I've been watching or finally get to watch a new one, but hey, I'm an odd person! Being behind on my favorite shows makes me miserable. Try to spend a few hours every Sunday catching up on your shows so you won't be trying to catch up while you're supposed to be studying or working during the week.

4. Binge watch Youtube videos.

I'm the same way about my Youtube videos as I am about my TV shows. I don't like being behind. I like to watch all the videos I added to my watch later list on Sunday so I can spend the rest of my week shamelessly adding more videos to watch.

3. Meditate.

I've tried several times to get into meditation but I've never been able to do it, or at least I don't think I'm doing it right (is there a right way to meditate? Probably not) but if you do happen to meditate or wanna get started, Sunday is the perfect time. Every night, whether it's a Sunday or not, I turn all my lights off and lay down in the dark and listen to music for a while until I'm nearly asleep. That's my meditation, and I don't know how I'd survive without doing it. It's important to wind down and take a few moments to just be with yourself, whether that's done in silence or with music playing in the background. Just enjoy your own company, let your thoughts roam free, and relax.

2. Cry.

Listen, I schedule my cries and you probably should too. Life isn't gumballs and rainbows all the time, things go wrong, bad thoughts and feelings fill you up sometimes, it happens. Instead of exploding in a very public place at the worst possible time, let your feelings out in the comfort of your own home. You don't have to force yourself to cry every Sunday, but if it's been a tough week then just let it all out. When I feel super anxious, I cry until I can't anymore, which is usually not all that long honestly. I do this whenever I need to, not just on Sundays. As long as I get to cry at night, in the dark, before I go to sleep, I don't care what day it is. That being said, there's something so special about sobbing on a Sunday. I like to think of it as if every tear that comes out is holding a gallon of negativity and toxicity. Bad things are flowing out of my body and that leaves room for only positive things. It really helps me start my week off with a good and hopeful mindset.

1. Rest up.

Maybe you'll be able to do every single thing on this list, maybe you'll only be able to do some. Whatever the case, make sure you make time to rest up too. You can be productive without wearing yourself out. You do not want to start the week off feeling exhausted and unrested!

Conclusion?

If you can't get little things done during the week and you refuse to work on Saturday, Sunday is your only option. Don't be fooled, though. It's possible to do this stuff at any time. Maybe Wednesday is the least busy day for you. Do all this stuff then. Just as long as you have one day out of the week to get stuff done, you should be fine! Thanks for reading!
