Weathervanes are a very cool decoration found on many barns. They can tell about the interests of the owner and are often very colorful.

Weathervanes are most commonly used by farmers so they knew which way the wind was blowing on any given day. Weathervanes are the oldest forms of weather prediction and the name comes from the Old English word "fane" which means flag or banner. There are some indications that weathervanes are mentioned in ancient writings by the Mesopotamia over 3500 years ago.
