Buying a House in Scotland - Essential Websites

Updated on October 31, 2016

Looking for Houses to Buy in Scotland

Below is a list of some of the major websites you can use to find property for sale in Scotland.  When you buy a house in Scotland, the usual method is  to see the prices and then to put in your offer, which can be anything between 0-20% higher than the price you see in the advert.  The system is completely different to how you buy a house in the rest of the United Kingdom.

I hope you find this list useful.  Feel free to add  more links to the comments section at the bottom and I'll gladly add them into the relevant lists.

Thank you for a very useful list of resources. I've been monitoring the real estate market in Scotland for a while now, but I found new websites that I had never seen before and that turned out to be better than the ones I normally use.

Re/MAX Scotland is exclusively Scottish properties - how more reliable do you need?

SPCs are all based in Scotland and only handle Scottish properties.

They're in alphabetical order. All of them have Scotland property sections, but they don't have a reliable link to go straight to them.

      Sorry.

The introductory comments about the Offers Over system are outdated; since the introduction of Home Reports in Dec 2008, the vast majority of Scottish property has been marketed using either Fixed Price or Offers in the region of.. methods. Very few Offers Over properties to be found these days.

Can I suggest that the Scottish-specific sites be ordered first in the list? It starts off with the generic UK sites, then has the Scottish-based ones listed last....
