Cabin Beds

Updated on September 18, 2014

As far as beds for kids go, people are most familiar with bunk beds. There is no need to go to details here as everyone knows these are just a couple of beds stacked one of top of another and connected with a ladder. If you have two kids that are about the same age, this one is a winner. But there is also a type of these beds that is intended for a single child and is way more useful and a lot more fun. I’m talking about cabin beds or loft beds.

Cabin beds only have one bunk on top and instead of the lower bunk there is storage space with drawers and small closets. The entire bed can is usually decorated and painted so it is also appealing for the child. Once you child sees a cabin bed he (or she) will want to have it. Loft beds are just that beautiful.

Cabin bed advantages

Because of all the advantages, cabin beds (loft beds) are by far the most recommended type of children’s beds:

  • Storage space

The extra storage space you get is priceless. A cabin bed does not take more floor space than an ordinary bed for kids. It is a high bed so it uses the space above the floor. The bed is lifted and is in the similar height as the top ob a bunk bed, but the main difference is that the space beneath is used for drawers and cupboards. This is especially great if the room is small and you don’t want to fill it with closets and leaving your child with very little playing area. The storage space can be used for clothes and toys

  • The look

Cabin beds come in all sorts of colours and designs. You can get a Spiderman, a castle or a pirate ship cabin bed for your son, and a Hello Kitty or a Barbie girl cabin bed for your daughter. There are numerous different options, so you can be sure you and your child will find the one you will both like.

  • Wide selection

As already mentioned, you can find ordinary wooden cabin beds without any decoration if this is what works best for you. You can even let your child paint it the way he wants it to. In this case make sure you use children friendly colours. You can also get a cabin bed that is already shaped like something completely else, like a tree house, or a car, or even a castle. Or you can choose one of the cartoon cabin beds with images of your child’s favourite cartoon heroes or superheroes.

Cabin beds really do provide a lot of fun and are incredibly practical. I really cannot find a decent reason why you would not buy one for your child.
