Corner Sofas: More popular than ever
Corner Sofas where popular in the UK a few years ago. As a piece of modern furniture that was stylish and practical, this furniture seemed set to stay. However, a few years ago corner sofas became hard to find, unless you were looking to purchase second hand or used.
Fashions go round and around though and, currently, corner sofas seem more popular than ever before.
Corner sofas are sold in a variety of shapes and sizes. Some can be separated into individual seating and then used as a sofa when appropriate. Others may have a recliner function, or even that of a sofa bed.
One of the advantages of purchasing a corner sofa is that you should be able to find the right size for your needs. Smaller rooms, that may be unusually shaped can be difficult to furnish. Corner sofas offer a degree of flexibility. For example some are curved in shape.
First things first then if you are looking to purchase a corner sofa.
MATERIAL
For me, leather is one of the best furniture materials. It is easy to keep clean. Of course, the choice is yours. Why leather, for me? Well, with two dogs a leather sofa is practical. My dogs rarely attempt to climb onto leather furniture, unlike fabric furniture. If they mooch along the front of the sofa, pet hairs do not stick to leather furniture. Finally, a leather corner sofa can be easily cleaned.
Leather furniture can be more costly so check out any local sales.
BUDGET
Make sure that you know the full cost of your corner sofa. Some furniture retailers add on the cost of castors, for example. Ensure that you know any. possible. hidden costs before you sign on the dotted line. as they say.
In the UK. there are many furniture retailers who. supposedly. constantly are having a sale. These prices may not be the bargain they seem. Often though they offer 4 years interest free credit which can seem appealing.
COLOUR
The colour will depend upon your taste and the style of your home. However. I have mentioned colour as a word of caution. Often the best priced corner sofas may be in a less popular colour. Bright yellow may seem a good idea today. but what about three years down the road? Most of us need furniture to have longevity so consider the colour of your corner sofa with this in mind. This applies to up to the minute patterns also which may look ghastly in a short space of time.
SIZE
Remember size matters. Take various measurements of the areas in your home where you may want to use your corner sofa. If you want to be able to utilise this sofa in various locations, around your home, you need to know that it will fit. However flexible a corner sofa can be, as opposed to a traditional sofa, it does depend on its size and shape.
One of the most important measurements is your door. We once bought a huge settee which would not go through our front door. After many attempts the delivery men had too remove the glass in our front window. This proved time consuming and costly.
SHAPE
So, onto the shape. There are quite a few different shaped corner sofas. Your choice will depend upon your household's seating demands, as well as the size and style of your rooms.
COMFORT FACTOR
For me this is one of the most important features of any sofa. I have seen some very stylish sofas only to discover that sitting on them is as comfy as sitting on the floor. Make sure that you try before you buy. This means that you can check the height of the back of the sofa, for instance. This could be important for a tall person's comfort.
