Introduction

My recent experience with IKEA countertop replacement was so fantastic, I want to share it with everyone.

IKEA Countertop for Kitchen is Great

Recently, I decided to renovate our kitchen. It was about 15 years old and needed a new look. Besides, a recent water damage has caused some of the kitchen cabinet doors to separate. I decided to get it refaced. I went with Kitchen Magic and they did an excellent job refacing all the doors and replaced all the drawers.

When I decided to replace the old laminate countertop, I had a few options. There was Corian offered by Kitchen Magic but it was very expensive. I decided to go with Quartz from IKEA. It was half the price and very easy to order and install. One guy came and did the templating in one afternoon and after two weeks, a different team came and installed the final countertop in 45 minutes. It was a fantastic experience.

Compare Corian with Quartz - Can you tell the difference?

Final Completion

Summary

The design is very simple. It came in three pieces, along with a back splash. The main counter was two pieces that needed to be assembled. They used a special device to compress the two pieces while the glue hardened. Once finished, you can’t hardly see the seam. It was near the middle of where the sink is located.

The final product is great. You could not see the seam where the two pieces came together. The whole experience was fast and easy and economical. My only regret is I should have done this sooner. Now, I have a new kitchen at half the cost.

I recommend IKEA highly. They were very professional and I love the results.

The guy that did the installation told me about a great cleaning product called Bar Keepers Friend. It cleans without scratching the surface.
