Cozy Farm Houses with Charm and Antiques

Updated on June 8, 2012

The Old Charm of a Cozy Farmhouse!

This is my Depression Glass Collection. Not all the same pattern, but still has what I need! (The clown is the "Watcher of Glass" lol)

Antiques or just Comfortable Living!

I've always loved Antiques! Some are so pretty and detailed, some very ornate, while others are sort of plain! The Dishes above belonged to both my mother and I. We acquired them in different ways, but still fun.

My first piece is the Green Cake Plate on top. Believe this or not, but I actually salvaged it UNSCATHED out of a throw away pile of stuff! If I hadn't of seen it, it would have been one less piece of Depression Glass in the world! Strangely enough I've gotten a few pieces of my antiques from things people would of otherwise thrown away, or very inexpensive!

The trick is to stay vigilant on the things you want to acquire, and don't be too afraid or ashamed to ask sometimes! Of course there's time's we don't want to compromise our integrity LOL, but there's times not to be stuck up as well! :) I "rescue" these things from being destroyed! There, how's that! :)

I'm not sure how my mother acquired all of hers, but I know she got a lot through going to yard sales herself, plus the fact she was a beautician and she always got such lovely gifts from her customers over the years. For instance, the beaded Apple. My mother had a customer who beaded and decorated her a new Christmas ornament every year. For a while! I still have some of them, and they're quite amazing, and very imaginative!

The green fruit bowl on the bottom center is not an antique. My mother and I did a bit of ceramics, and this was something she'd made. She kept it on her table until a few years after she passed away, the house began some changes. I was happy to get to bring it to my house, it fits right in with the display for now! The fake fruit is sort of a joke, nobody does that anymore! lol sorry if you do, it's just funny! :)

It's just not a country house without...

These photos beside were taken out of just sheer happiness that I have saved Antiques for over 20 years, for that one special day I would have my old farmhouse to put them in! Finally after all these years, I am able to put my Antique items out, in my cozy old fashion farm house and enjoy them!

I love having them on display for when company comes. They look around as if they were in an Antique store or stepped back in time! I have other photos to share I hope you take the time to look at them.

Please though, none of them are for sale, as I have saved for these for a very long time. Some things came to me I think just out of karma :) it was meant for me, in my country house!

Yes, I'm that strange person whose always either early or late with the trends in fashion, but I think I just go by what I feel and goals I want to accomplish rather than what's trendy at the moment!

This just touches the surface of antiques!

Lots more but....

This is all I'm going to cover on my Antiques right now. Yes I am aware some of it looks a bit dusty, but a bit of dust is natural. I do have to be very careful when I am cleaning some of these things are many are not replaceable, and my heart would just be broken if anything happened to any one of them. I'll update this hub with more of my antiques, and leave you with this thought....

When you are cleaning your antiques, or any old or even just sentimental items, please use a Dust It's (by the Swiffers) and touch it's corners into the corners or hard to dust places.

Also you can use a q tip for some small places, as I do when I dust inside my shadow box. You can always spray a little furniture polish on a paper plate and get the same poilshed effect in your wooden antiques!

If you have small children running in your house or anything to rattle them to the edge of the shelves, get some puddy. Plain ol' silly puddy! A tiny bit on a small edge will keep it better in place, and you won't have the worry of it rattling off. Still keep a watch on your things, to keep your country home, country, it's gotta be a little bit real, and well taken care of to preserve it for when you want to pass these things down in your family!

Check back soon, I have plenty more to show off! :)

Please take my poll, and let me know how you like it, thanks, I hope everyone has a wonderful day.
