Creative Dorm Decorations!

Updated on December 13, 2013

Hang up pictures of friends and family!

Seeing the smiling faces of friends and family in your dorm room is a good way to feel close to home no matter how far away you are. And a good way to do this is with pictures!

You will need:

  • String (or really pretty ribbon!)
  • Tape, tacks. (or maybe, if you have concrete walls, maybe hot glue? Not sure how well that would work or if you are even allowed.)
  • clothes pins (or any kind of clip you want to use)
  • PHOTOS!

Directions:

  • Hang up your string or ribbon
  • pin your pictures along the string

It's so simple, once you get the string to stay up!

"Where are my keys?!?!"

This is a great idea for anyone! I know, personally, I spend more time looking for things that I've lost than doing anything else. What a great way to start organizing!

You will need:

  • A photo frame, wood would be best (I love the texture and character of this one"
  • Paint (if you want a coloured frame)
  • screw in hooks

Directions:

  • sooo simple. Paint your frame, make sure there is no glass in it (duh)
  • screw in your hooks, however many you need

Message Board

Every dorm room needs a message board for all the girls in the suit, if you don't want to buy one, here is a super cool way to make a homemade magnetic one!

You will need:

  • A cookie sheet (get a cheap one from the dollar store!)
  • Material of your choice (if you want to make it pretty) :)
  • magnets to hang up messages

Directions:

  • Cover your sheet in the pretty material (you can hot glue the material to the sheet)
  • Hang up the cookie sheet in a common area (maybe stick some magnets to the back of it and put it on the fridge?)
  • Now use your little magnets to hang up notes for your roommates!

For the bathroom

This would also be a super awesome, cheap gift idea!

You will need:

  • A glass jar (the dollar store should have some in different shapes and sizes)
  • Beads (I'm willing to bet the dollar store will have these too. Maybe even use the beads that smell good!)
  • Ribbon (if you want to decorate it)
  • Makeup brushes!

Directions:

  • Glue the ribbon to the jar (man, this hot glue gun sure comes in handy!)
  • Add those smell good beads
  • stick your makeup brushes in

Great way to keep the area clean and pretty!
