Did you know? Amazing uses for toothpaste.

Updated on June 10, 2013

In the ongoing series of "Did you Know" facts, we've covered a wide myriad of topics ranging from movies to WD-40 facts. Now we cover some really great uses for toothpaste that you may have never known about.

I'm a sucker for what some would term as useless trivia. But I'm also amazed at how many simple household items have many more uses than what they were originally designed for. With toothpaste, I call this the Swiss Army Knife in a tube.

I really hope you find this hub useful and get a kick out of what you find out.

Let's make those brains bigger guys!

Have you ever used toothpaste for anything other than brushing your teeth?

Fixing CD scratches.

I sure do hate to hear a skipping track on a disc.

I actually tried this remedy years ago and I was amazed that it worked. Just put toothpaste on the scratch, rub it in extra well very carefully, then use a cloth to wipe it off. Voila!

Should clear up most of the scratches and skipping in no time!

Use it as shoe polish.

Just put some on any scuffs you may have on your shoes and rub it in. Wipe it off and the shoe will be quite clean.

This can work on anything from sneakers to dress shoes. Handy to have in a pinch.

Use to sanitize your hands.

Okay, this one seems a little weird but it actually works.

Take a small dab and mix with a little bit of water and it effectively becomes a unique germ-killer that you can use in place of soap or sanitizer. Who knew?

On a completely unrelated note, you can also use this to remove strong smelling odors from your hands. I've always wanted my hands to have that fresh breath minty smell.

Impress your date man.

Get rid of water marks on wood.

Oh man, I hate these things. The one time you forget to put a coaster under your cup of ice tea and the next thing you know you've ruined your tabletop.

Not to worry, with your handy dandy swiss army knife in a tube, you can rub some into the stain and take a soft cloth and wipe it off and it should remove most if not all of the stain.

Make sure you use regular and not gel toothpaste as that isn't very effective.

Pimple killer!

Wow, it cleans my teeth, sanitizes my hands and now kills zits? What will toothpaste not do man?

Put some on the offending pimple at night, wake up in the morning and wash it off. It actually sucks up the excess oils from the zit and flattens it out for you. Be careful only to do this maybe a few times a month because it could possibly dry your skin out. Make sure you do a small test run too because some folks get irritated skin.

Clean your silverware or jewelry.

You know the really nice pricey kind of silverware you bring out for special occasions?

Well, here's a great way to polish them at home now instead of spending money for a professional to do it. Get yourself a very soft brush and a small bowl of water.

Your silverware will be sparkling like new. Same goes for your jewelry.

Helps with burns or bites.

Ever burned yourself or been bitten by a bug of some kind? Sucks doesn't it?

This is a great soother and pain reliever for such things, just apply some to the affected area and you'll notice a difference in how you feel.

Gets crayon off the walls.

I will be dealing with this soon with the impending arrival of my child. Most parents have had to deal with this in one form or another so here's a great remedy to help.

Apply some toothpaste to these walls and wipe down with a damp rag. Should get your walls squeaky clean in no time!

Final thoughts.

Guys, I've actually used some of these remedies personally so I know that they work. I hope you found this list of facts helpful and enjoyable. It was definitely a lot of fun hunting down these facts and checking to make sure they were accurate. This is a shorter list, but the video has quite a few more that are fascinating!

Now I need to go and put some toothpaste on a pimple tonight....I had one just spring up and I need to do a check on it and see if it works.

I appreciate you reading and Kasman will return with another hub soon!

Thanks alot!
