Updated on March 4, 2014

Duplex apartment in Amarilla Bay up for sale

Fancy a home by the sea that looks out over the Atlantic Ocean and is situated in a warm sunny location in the Canary Islands? Well, how about a 2-bedroom apartment in Amarilla Bay housing complex in Tenerife's Costa del Silencio?

Amarilla Bay housing complex where the apartment is located is a quiet and well-looked after apartment complex that is literally just minutes from the sea. It has its own swimming pool and a carpark for residents alongside the apartment blocks.

Being located in the extreme south of the island of Tenerife it gets the best of the weather which means plenty of sunshine.

All about the apartment and the area

The apartment that is for sale has two bedrooms as well as two bathrooms (one with a bath upstairs and one with a shower downstairs). It has only recently been redecorated and the kitchen has new furnishings too.

This duplex apartment provides 64m² of living space as well as 3 outside terraces (the biggest of these is 12m² of space and joins on to the living room, and there are an additional two smaller ones with one for each of the bedrooms. The apartment is overlooking the sea in the bay below and the sun shines on it all day long.

Looking inland from the apartment it is easy to see Tenerife's famous Mt Teide, which in winter is often capped in gleaming white snow. You can enjoy sunshine and semi-tropical heat outside the apartment whilst looking at snow up on the highest mountain in Spain.

The apartment is on the upper level of a two-tiered block and part of the residential complex known as Amarilla Bay. Many of the residents are English-speakers, which is a great help if you do not speak much Spanish and you want to make friends with your neighbours.

There are well-tended flower borders and ornamental gardens in the complex which also has a swimming pool provided for residents.

The Amarilla Bay apartments are very near to a local supermarket and within a short distance of the many shops, restaurants and bars of the main part of Costa del Silencio, which is also served by a regular bus service.

It is easy to get to the resorts of Los Cristianos and Playa de las Américas from Costa del Silencio although many locals are happy spending tme and shopping in nearby Las Galletas, which has more of a friendly traditional Spanish feel to it and is often referred to as "the Village."

The Amarilla Bay and Costa del Silencio area is also within a short drive by car or taxi to the Reina Sofía airport for the south of Tenerife.

The apartment could be yours for just 125,995.00€ ($171.910.00 or £113,734.00)

Other attractions and entertainment

Amarilla Bay residential complex is built overlooking the seafront which houses the popular Flicks Bar. This bar offers cabaret entertainment every evening as well as a special Sunday afternoon session from 2-6pm. Many of Tenerife's singers and entertainers have appeared at Flicks.

Flicks Bar serves hot meals including Sunday dinners and holds Christmas parties and other functions such as benfit concerts and charity auctions. It has even been used as the setting for the making of a Welsh TV drama.

As a special service Mike the landlord of Flicks Bar will drive customers to the airport by arrangement and also takes people to and from Costa del Silencio.

Just along from Flicks Bar is the unmistakeable Montaña Amarilla (Yellow Mountain). This volcanic cone is a conservation site of interest to naturalists and geologists because of its unusual flora and fauna and rock formations.

It is a place that local walkers enjoy for its coastal pathways that eventually lead over to the Golf del Sur and Amarilla Golf areas, or where they can climb up to the summit of the Yellow Mountain and get a splendid view out to sea and all around.

In the actual bay, dolphins can sometimes be spotted and the area is a favourite location for divers too.

Further along the coast it is easy to see the Red Mountain (Montaña Roja) of the wind-surfers' paradise of El Médano.
