If you are pregnant with your first child, you may be completely unaware of gliders for the nursery. Your list of nursery essentials is probably quite long including a cot, changing station, baby clothes rail and of course, all the other bits and pieces to make the nursery a cosy, comforting, peaceful place!

However, many moms-to-be give very little thought to where they are going to sit in the room to nurse their baby, particularly for those middle of the night feeds! Newborn babies like to feed - a lot!

Most new moms find themselves getting up every couple of hours during the night. Some of them will take baby into their own bed to feed, but this is not always comfortable or practical. The best option is a baby glider chair created purely to make feed times as comfortable and relaxing as possible for both mom and baby.

If you are thinking of investing in a nursery glider, visit the product page showing all the top rated nursery gliders on Amazon by clicking the link. Alternatively, scroll down the page for my top two recommendations. Buying a glider chair will prove to be a great investment and will help you to get through all those late nights and early mornings!

Have You Thought About A Nursery Chair Yet?

If you have not yet thought about a nursery chair, you will want to start researching the options available otherwise, your perfect nursery will have a vital element missing. My friend Claire told me that she had not considered a glider chair for her little boy's nursery and did not actually buy one until a couple of months after his birth. She said:

"As soon as my glider arrived, our lives were transformed! I could lift Baby out of his cot and immediately sit down with him cradled in my arms. I was able to start feeding him before he woke up properly - no turning on lamps or switching rooms."

She said that the new chair was so comfortable that she soon started to use it for daytime feeds too. Babies love the gentle gliding motion, and this helps to settle them into a nap after a lengthy feed. If you have ever tried to rock a baby to sleep in your arms, you will know how long it can take and how uncomfortable - even painful - it can be! A gliding chair will take this pressure off. Its wide seat, soft cushions and padded arms will make it so easy to find a position that is comfortable for you both. The reclining mechanism and headrest mean that you could have a quick snooze too!

Choose a Glider with Ottoman and Put Your Feet Up!

Many moms find that buying a gliding ottoman (foot rest) to go with their nursery chair is a great investment. It really helps to be able to put your feet up (literally!) after a tiring day with the kids.

If In Doubt, Choose Neutral Color Glider Cushions

My friend bought her nursery glider almost 5 years ago and tells me that she still uses it every day! It saw her through several months of breastfeeding for both her son and then daughter and all the formula feeds, snuggles and bedtime stories since then.

She chose a chair with natural colored cushions because she thought these would complement any future color schemes. This turned out to be a good choice, as a darker color, while probably more practical for an outdoor glider, would have been more likely to show up spilled milk and all the other dribbles that go hand in hand with babies!

Replacement Cushions and Slipcovers are Available

When Claire found out she was pregnant again and the scans showed that this time, her baby would be a little girl, she decided to invest in some new glider cushions for the chair to make it special and new for her second baby as glider rocker replacement cushions are readily available.

However these chairs are so well made that the cushions were still in top condition, firm, supportive and comfortable. So instead, she looked at slipcovers before finally deciding to buy material and get them professionally recovered.

Buying a lovely 'girly' fabric proved a very inexpensive way of completely renovating both the glider and the ottoman. Both pieces of furniture were totally transformed!
