It is necessary to choose the right rug for any area of your house. A wide variety of contemporary rugs, modern rugs and designer rugs are available to choose from. The rug can also transform the look of the room completely. Rug can cover up any blemish in the flooring of the room. It can highlight the furniture by simply fading away in the background. It can add warmth to your room. It can also change your mood. Rugs made from a wide variety of materials are available. The rug for your home may be made of materials like woolen, cotton, acrylic, polypropylene and silk.

Size of the Rug

It is necessary to choose the rug of the right size for the room where it is being used. The drawing of the floor of the room should be first made in graph paper. Sketch the furniture on the graph paper. Choose the rug which suits the size of the room and the furniture which would be a part of the room.

Shape of the Rug

Rugs are available in different shapes and sizes. You can get rectangular circular, oval shaped and elliptical rugs. There are no hard and fast rules about choice of the shape. It is possible that circular furniture may look nice sitting atop a rectangular rug or vice versa. Circular rugs are unique and they should be used to reduce the angular shape of the room.

Color of the Rug.

The color of the rug is also is very important. If the room is dark then a lighter color rug may brighten it. If the room is well lit then a darker color rug may go well with it. It is not necessary to match the color of the rug with that of the furniture. Some times stark contrast in color will add to the beauty. If you are replacing a rug in a room then you can pick up a rug that goes with color of the paint.

Pattern of the Rug

It is necessary to choose a rug of the right pattern. The pattern can add depth to the color. Graphic pattern can add brightness to dark rooms. If the room has heavy traffic then the right pattern has to chosen. It is also necessary to choose a rug that is easy to maintain. You can have different patters in a room. But the color or motif has to the same.

Type of Weave

The weave of a rug and its texture is also very important. It also depends on the place in the house where the rug is used and the wear and tear it will be subjected to. If it is used in a high traffic area is better to use a rug that can withstand heavy wear and tear.

So it is necessary to consider all these factors before choosing the right rug for your home.
