What you'll need

  • Water
  • Sugar
  • Cotton balls or toilet paper
  • Bottle caps from any empty bottles(optional)
  • Boric Acid*

*Boric Acid can be found in many local stores for just a couple dollars or you can even buy it online from the links below. Don't worry it's not dangerous, just don't go eating it!

Creating the Concoction and Setting the Trap

First mix about a tablespoon of sugar and boric acid into a small cup of water. Don't worry about exact measurements. Next just dip some cotton balls wads of toilet paper into the mixture. Then place them in the bottle caps, if you have them, if you don't, don't worry! Now place the soaked cotton balls around the house where ants appear often. The trap is now set!

The Death of the Ants

Over the next couple of days you'll see ants all over the traps. Just let them be. The boric acid is deadly to the ants, but because it's odorless the scent of the sugar will make the ants go crazy for it. The ants will share some with the Queen and the rest of the colony, and in about two days you won't see another ant.
