It's Fall Y'all: Autumn Inspiration

Updated on September 25, 2015

Smell the Crisp Autumn Air

One of my very favorite things about fall is the scents. Transitioning from summery scents to warm, inviting, fall scents makes me feel all the feels. Here in Texas, I can't always "feel" fall when I walk outside, but I do have the ability to "smell" fall when I walk inside my home. That being said, here is a list of my favorite places to find great fall scents:

  • Bath and Body Works
  • Target
  • TJ Maxx, Home Goods, Marshalls

Bath and Body Works will often put their 3-wick candles on sale 2 for $22 or 2 for $24, add a coupon and you've got a great deal for at least 50 hours of burn time. I have a special place in my heart for Bath and Body Works candles because my husband and I burned them on our honeymoon in the Rockies. Thanks to nostalgia, Marshmallow Fireside is the one scent that I can't do without.

Target is great about putting their fall candles on sale quickly after they get their winter candles in stock. Also, this season I got several really cute fall candles from their dollar section for $3 each.

TJ Maxx, Home Goods, and Marshalls often have great deals on brand name candles. No guarantees on what they'll have in stock, but you can find some steals!

Amazon is my (not so) secret obsession. Shopping at your fingertips and two day shipping (thanks, Prime!), what's not to love? You can find pretty much any scent you could possibly want, but I'll be honest, sometimes you pay for convenience. You can definitely find unique items; some items are available exclusively on Amazon.

Oh, Sweaters...

I LOVE SWEATERS. I am not ashamed of this fact. I pretty much wear or carry a sweater year-round. And yes, I live in Texas. The thing about Texas is, if you are the slightest bit cold natured you will freeze indoors. During the summer, air conditioners work overtime to provide relief from the sweltering heat. I suffer because I cool down quickly. I am not a summer gal for many reasons, but the biggest by far is my frowned upon sweater habits. So I welcome fall with open, knit-covered arms. Where I am home. I dramatically digress...

Here is a list of my favorite sweater retailers:

  • Old Navy
  • Target
  • TJ Maxx
  • Loft
  • Forever 21

Old Navy has great sales and usually a fantastic clearance section. Honestly, I don't buy much from Old Navy, but what I do buy is sweaters.

Target has a great selection of basic cardigans. If you find one you love, you can probably buy it in a different color. I'm one of those people who finds a separate that fits and buys more than one color if it's available. I know that strategy isn't for everyone, but it works for me.

TJ Maxx is unpredictable, but nevertheless amazing. Several of my favorite sweaters are from TJ Maxx. I have found great pieces from Michael Kors, Cynthia Rowley, and Lucky Brand at a fraction of the price. Those are just a few of the great name brands available!

Loft is one of my very favorite stores, ever. Do you have one of those go-to stores where you can always find clothes that are cut perfectly to fit your body type? That's Loft for me. Not to mention that most of their pieces are simple. I like simple. They have fantastic sales and if you are lucky enough to come across an outlet in your travels, I will pray for you because the deals are crazy good and your wallet will suffer. Take it from me.

Forever 21... I have a love hate relationship with this store. I usually feel out of place because, like I said, my style is simple and I like everything to be laid out "simply." This place will give you sensory overload and it's sometimes overly "trendy." It's saving grace is that you find really great deals on separates, specifically sweaters.

Thanks for Reading!

I hope this post has helped you get in the mood for Fall if you aren't already! Many of you are probably already experiencing Fall weather; I envy you. I'm still in the land of 90 degree days, although it is starting to cool off (yay!).

I really enjoyed writing this post. Thank you for reading my ramblings and enduring my resentment. One day (soon?) I will experience the greatness that is Fall. It will indeed be a glorious day.

Here's a clip from one of my favorite movies to see you away. If you're looking for more Fall inspiration, just keep calm and watch YGM.
