My youngest child was the most difficult child, especially when trying to get him out of my bed. His crib was in my room. He was diagnosed with autism shortly after turning 2. His diagnosis may have contributed to the over protective measures I took with him. He had a high tolerance for pain and he was fearless. This is a recipe for disaster. I stopped putting him in the crib because he would try to jump out. I figured it was safer for him to sleep in my bed. The next problem became getting him out of my bed!
Having him in a separate room was not an option. He jumped on his siblings beds, recklessly. I had to come up with a solution and fast. He had to know that he had his own bed. It also had to be safe. So, I started looking for something that was fun, compact and safe (more like close to the ground). LOL!
Finally I found the Little Tikes car bed. This was the perfect solution. I bought it and set it up immediately. He loved it. Problem solved!
The Little Tikes Sports Car Bed
The Little Tikes Car bed comes in two sizes: toddler and twin size. The toddler car bed uses the crib mattress and the coil spring. This was the perfect size for us because he was going to continue sleeping in my room. His behavior could bring harm to himself and/or others. He broke his ankle before he turned 3. Need I say more?
The car bed comes in two styles.
- The sports car bed comes in black, blue or pink.
- The Lightning McQueen car bed comes in red.
If your child prefers trains, you can get the Thomas and Friends bed pictured on the right.
If you purchase the toddler bed, you can use the crib sheets you already have. You also have the option of purchasing themed bedding your child will love. The twin size car bed uses twin size bedding.
What is the car bed made of?
It is made of double wall plastic and is extremely sturdy. The car bed is easy to assemble too.
