Log Home Packages and Prices

Log Home Packages and Prices

Log home packages. What does it all mean? Log home packages and prices can be rather confusing to those in the research stages of planning and building a log home. Every log home company offers their own log home package which is priced accordingly. Being there is no standard set package in the log home industry it is left up to you, the log home buyer, to sort out the details of log home packages and prices. According to Wild River Log Homes, a company that has built many Minnesota log homes over the last 12 years, many log home enthusiasts spend two to five years researching and planning their dream log home through magazines, books, online and attending shows and seminars. During this time period you will become better at sorting out the information regarding log home packages. If you haven't already been there, you will be there with time. "There" is when you see that log home company advertisement stating a very cheap log home package price. It gets your attention and you get fired up a bit thinking this may be it. It can be a let down when you realize that price is cheap for a reason. That reason is because that log home company may only be selling just wall logs and a roof system. Most log home companies offer at least a shell package which usually is the logs, needed framing materials and roof system. Some may or may not include windows and exterior doors. Be sure to ask! There are a few log home companies on there that include everything you need. They will have all the exterior materials as well as interior finishing such as knotty pine, interior doors and interior trim. Some even include the fireplace, cabinetry and lighting. These all inclusive log home companies may appear to be more money at first but once you compare what they include it all will start making sense to you. There are many other log home companies that are in the middle of the road in what they include and are priced accordingly. The log home package and price is only part of the equation. You still need to get it built. The materials are a large part of it but some do get too hung up on just that part of the process. Build costs and lot prep have to be part of the budget as well. As you are researching log homes you will start visiting models and quiet possibly log home dealers. Remember that the relationship you start with a log home company could last anywhere from six months to a couple of years or more so make sure you decide to work with a log home company that you are comfortable with.

Many are in the same situation of trying to sell their house to proceed with the log home construction. The ones are in a position to start right now are able to take advantage of some very low build costs. What part of the country are they in?

The folks I know of are pretty anxious as they have been living in a small hunting cabin for 2 years. They were also waiting for their house to sell.

Thanks for the comment! It is very easy to spend a couple of years researching and checking it all out before proceeding into the planning and building stages. It can be fun but confusing at the same time.
