Quirky, Fun & Downright Bizarre Novelty Toilet Seats

Updated on August 28, 2014

From bor-ing ...

I once had a particularly sad little date in college. He took me to an incredible ice cream shop that sold hundreds of flavors and all sorts of frozen treats. But what did he order? A vanilla milkshake. He was just that sort of guy.

I don't remember his name or what he looked like, but I remember that shake.

It said a lot about him.

What does your toilet seat say about you?

... to bling!

Not everyone's water closet can carry off a silver foil toilet seat. If yours can, more power to you!

Of course, a plain vanilla shake isn't the same as a plain white toilet seat. For one thing, a toilet seat won't melt in the sun. And it contains much more fiber and fewer calories than a milkshake.

Some would also argue that a plain white toilet seat is classic rather than boring--even tasteful. And they may be right.

But novelty toilet seats also have their charms.

Some novelty toilet seats are hysterically funny, some are shocking and most aren't in the best of taste. But they sure are fun!

Thrones of Power

I'm not sure what the connection is between a pile of money and a pile of--er, toilet seats, but there are lots of products on the market that feature coins, dollar bills and money signs.

Add a roll of novelty money toilet paper into the mix, and you'll have a definite theme going in your bathroom or water closet.

I have a soft spot for leopard skin print. Used in moderation, it can add a lot of fun to your wardrobe and your home decor. Against a background of neutral colors, interesting textures and solid hues, a leopard print toilet seat can easily go from novelty to tres chic. Of course, you could also go leopard-print crazy and match it with a leopard print rug, shower curtain and/or towels.

Going to the bathroom can be like a day at the beach when your novelty toilet seat is decorated with seashells, colorful fish, seahorses and other aquatic life.

Tropical fish and seashell toilet seats come in hard Lucite as well as elongated designs. Some are even padded!

It's not a toilet seat. It's a seat cover that peels off & on easily.

Peel & Apply Snakes

Snakes on a Plane! Not a great film. But snakes on a toilet seat? Creepy, quirky and a real surprise for guests.

Apply it to the lid of your throne at Halloween, All Snakes Day (March 17) or just for fun.

Shark Attack! Toilet Seat Cover

Like the snake toilet seat cover, the shark topper peels on and off easily.

Fun for Halloween and practical jokes, it's also a great gift for fans of Jaws.

It's potty time!

"'The time has come,' the Walrus said, 'to talk of many things: Of shoes and ships--and sealing wax--of cabbages" and toilet seats!

Okay, Lewis Carroll's version sounds better, but this clock toilet seat sure is cute.

Sorry, I haven't seen one of those. The oddest seats I've seen lately glow in the dark. Hope you find what you're looking for! Take care, Jill

I have been looking forever for a clear acrylic toilet seat that I once saw years ago with barbed wire, razor blaces, rusty nails, etc. all thrown free form in the acrylic. Have you seen one? 3 years ago

I know, Rosie. (I like the butterfly one.) For a laugh though, check out "the manhole cover": It'd be pretty funny for a frat house or a boy's bathroom.

Thanks for reading & commenting! Jill
