Shoe Storage Bench – Practical Decorative Storage For Your Home

Updated on September 10, 2011

Tired of trying to find your shoes when leaving your home or apartment? Or even worse, you only find 1 then have to go hunting for the other shoe? Not only does it waste your time, but also it makes for a mess and cluttered area. A practical and functional way to end this nonsense is by using a shoe storage bench.

Most homes have family members that will just kick their shoes off when they enter the home and leave them on the mat near the door. Others will open the hall closet and simply kick and fling the shoes into the closet in a haphazard fashion, making a mess of the closet.

A shoe storage bench is self-explanatory. It is a bench in which you can sit on and it contains a built in storage area. So not only can it help decorate a hall, entry way or room, it also help store and organize your footwear. There are several models to choose from. This article will explore a few of them.

Shoe Rack Bench

These are very inexpensive, about $40 to $ 70 online. These are typically wooden benches with a wood seating area and a rack or 2 underneath the sitting area. A shoe storage rack bench like this will hold about 10 to 12 pairs or shoes or sneakers. If you have a limited area for a shoe bench, this might be the right one for you. With their compact size, these benches are great for back hallways and for mudroom shoe storage.

Entryway shoe storage bench

These are great addition to your entryway or entrance hall. Not only can this be a bigger storage bench if you have the room, they can be very comfortable to sit on. No more hoping on one foot or leaning against the wall (and making hand prints on the wall) trying to take your shoes off. Plus these are great if you have small children who need help tying their shoes. No more having them on the stairs and you leaning over in an uncomfortable position as you tried to help them with their shoes.

Shoe Storage Benches

Shoe storage benches come in various styles as we have mentioned before. You can get a storage rack system with all of your shoes exposed so you can find them at a glance. There are also model that is a bench but with cubbyholes for better shoe organization. This is a very convenient model; just grab your footwear and go.

Another style shoe storage bench is one that comes with a closed storage compartment under the seat. With this model, the seat opens on a hinge so you can reach into the storage area for your shoes. The advantage of this type of shoe bench is that they are usually deep enough to hold boots.

I found an interesting bench with shoe storage online recently. It’s a shoe bench made out of cherry wood and the front tilts out with all of your shoes on neat racks. This was a great looking bench and was very functional. Just tilt open the front panel, pull out your shoes, close the panel sit and away you go.

Shoe storage benches can be found made of wood, plastic, metal or even wicker. As you saw, they come in many styles too. Some of the most popular colored ones are white shoe storage benches and black storage benches. These will match just about any décor.

In conclusion, a shoe storage bench will help organize your home, reduce that mess in the closet which we are all guilty of and also add a nice piece of furniture to your home. You can shop for one online.

One of these benches would make a perfect addition to any foyer. Nice hub.
