Top 5 Electric Leaf Blowers for Under $100 - Black & Decker, McCulloch, Toro, WORX

Updated on October 14, 2010

I guess one of the benefits of buying a new house AND working part time as a landscaper is that I get to test out all kinds of yard and garden tools! I recently needed to buy a blower for my house (first fall + TONS of trees = NEED A BLOWER.) I thought I would share my results with everyone in case you wanted a easy to follow ranking of what is available for the medium to heavy home user.

I decided on an electric blower even though they do have me dragging around a extension cord. Mainly it is because I did not want to hassle with the oil, gas, smell and noise of a gas blower AND as with all of my yard tool, cordless tool just do not make the cut, they are too heavy and expensive and just do not have enough power.

I am almost always very happy with how cheap Amazon is for many tools I need and the great deals on free shipping!  Without further ado, here is my top 5 list!

#1 - Toro 51599 Ultra 12 amp Variable-Speed Electric Blower/Vacuum

Great little blower/vacuum/shredder ESPECIALLY for the price.  Funny thing with this blower is that we have one that we keep on the yard truck that looks like it has been to hell and back about 20 times, that thing has paid for itself 20 times over and is used for little jobs where we don't bring a gas blower or when the other blowers are in use.  Great reviews, combo blower and vacuum shredder.  GREAT reviews, reliable, plenty of power and much quieter than many other blowers.  GREAT buy for the price!

#2 - WORX TriVac WG500 12 amp All-in-One Electric Blower/Mulcher/Vacuum

This is a great blower with a couple of caveats.  One of the first things I saw and liked about this device is that you could change it from a blower to a vacuum with just the flip of a switch.  HOWEVER, the fan (impeller) is plastic and relatively delicate so I WOULD NOT use this as a yard vacuum, use it as a blower (which is is AWESOME as) and as a mulcher for leaves only to prevent damaging the impeller.

That being said, VERY comfortable blower to use with some real thought put into the design, plenty of power and nice mulching feature.  I don't think I would pay $150 for it, but at this price well worth considering, especially if you want the mulcher.

#3 - Toro 51592 Super 12 amp 2-Speed Electric Blower/Vacuum

This is essentially the smaller brother of out #1 blower.  Actually has the same motor and impeller but it is slightly smaller and not as robust, but then again, the price is lower as well and it makes this a great choice for a combo blower/vacuum.

Not much to say on this that we didn't say about #1.  Still powerful, quite and easy to use just like the big brother, but if you maybe do not have a very big yard and just need a little less for a little less money this is a GREAT choice!

#4 - Black & Decker LH4500 12 amp 2-Speed Electric Leaf Hog Blower / Vacuum with Leaf Bag

Our number 4 on the list is just a rock solid blower.  The fact that it is this far down the list is really a factor of the superior devices on the list AND the great deals that are offered on them and not this not being a GREAT blower!

Quite, powerful, easy to use and just all around a nice blower!

#5 - McCulloch 12 Amp 165 MPH 2-Speed Electric Blower/Vac MCB2205

The McCulloch is a great little blower as well.  Not quite as powerful as some of the others on the list but still a great value and would be a nice choice for someone who doesn't need a  larger and more powerful blower and wants something that is going to be dependable, quite and with the blower and vacuum options.  This is the blower I would get my mother for example (if I didn't do her yard for her that is :)
