Wood Burner Stoves

Updated on December 3, 2012

Wood burner stoves are great for warming a home without putting extra strain on an already overloaded national grid. Green and natural, modern wood burner stoves create fantastic, and in some cases, controllable, heat at a fraction of the cost of using any other fuel.

Modern wood burner stoves are easy to clean and maintain, and when properly fitted do not fill your living area with smoke or any other undesirable side effect that open fireplaces of old may have caused.

Come home to a real fire! Wood burner stoves are safe with the actual fire safely enclosed behind a glass door so there is no dangers of smouldering logs falling out and causing a house fire.

With modern wood burner stoves, you can hook them up to your hot water supply to provide as much hot water for your family's needs at no extra cost.

The Vogelzang Defender Wood-Burning Stove shown here is a high-efficiency airtight stove, which will heat up to 1200 sq. ft.

It has a maximum output of 28,337 BTU when burning Douglas fir, and 68,000 BTU with hardwood.

Made of a heavy-duty 3/16in. steel plate construction and is fully firebrick lined.

It features:

  • a secondary air re-burn combustion system
  • a cast iron feed-door with gasket
  • clear-view air-washed ceramic glass
  • cam-lock latch and cool-touch spring handle
  • Stove accepts logs 18in. long
  • One full load burns approx. 8-10 hours
  • Safety tested to UL 1482

Absolutely, we need to make more use of them and less of electric and gas stoves.
