An Electric Wok that Really Can Stir Fry Your Food

It is a popular wisdom that electric woks don’t generate enough heat as a truly Chinese wok should do. So if you want that your meals have any resemblance to Chinese food at all, it is better to stay away from them. However, curious to know whether this popular wisdom is true or not, I decided to do a little research of my own and post the result of my research in this review.

Well, let me tell you. Popular wisdom could not be more wrong! There is an Electric Wok which can stand up to the task of quickly stir frying your food.

The Wok I am speaking about is the Breville Electric Gourmet Wok model EW30XL. It is not an inexpensive appliance, but as opposed to the other crap out there, the Breville wok is one kitchen appliance that really worth your while.

So, why do I say that the Breville Electric Wok is the best?

Well, basically for two things:

  • You can really stir fry with this electric wok.
  • The overall quality of the product and easiness of use is simply outstanding.

But, let’s take a look at this electric wok with a little more detail.

Can it generate enough heat?

This is crucial, if the wok can not get hot enough to stir fry and sear, all the rest is meaningless. And the answer is an emphatic yes!

The core of the Breville electric wok is the 1500-watt Butterfly element. This butterfly element at the base of the wok can create up to 425°F (218°C). So, the wok really gets hot. But most important, it gets hot quickly and evenly over the entire surface, and that is excellent for quick searing and stir-frying. The bottom line, an all reviews agreed on this, is that the taste of your meals will be the same to meals made in traditional stove top woks.

But that is not all, one of the nice things about the The Breville is that you can have a lot of control over how much hot it gets. It includes a control probe that has 15 settings, so you can cook all kinds of meals, including pasta, soups, or eggs, besides stir frying.

Besides, it has a temperature indicator light that lets you know when the right temperature has been reached. This is really handy for cooking, because you don't have to guess when the heat of the wok is right to start your meals.

Is it Dishwasher safe?

Yes, everything, except the control probe and the power cord, is dishwasher safe. Actually, one of the best points of the wok is that you can easily separate the base of the bowl and wash the two parts apart.

What about the Non Stick Surface?

The non stick interior is made of QuanTanium, a multi-layer non stick coating, reinforced with titanium. Frankly it is the best you can get on the market, because it is highly resistant to scratching, abrasion and wear. Far better than conventional non stick surfaces. And in addition, it is the most close you can get to be "non stick." Which is really great, because you can use less oil preparing your foods meaning healthier meals for you.

What about the Lid

The lid is made of tempered glass and it has a domed shape to facilitate the cooking of a large meal. The overall impression is that it is solid and well built. In addition, It has a steam vent to provide the ideal amount of moisture to your meals.

Does it Come With a Warranty?

Yes, it is come with one-year limited warranty

Is there anything more you should know before buying?

Yes, the Breville wok is heavy and well built. Therefore, you will not be able to lift your wok to toss the food. You have to use a spoon to move the food around while cooking.

Where can I buy it online?

You can buy it at One of the most trusted retail stores online. And one store where you can generally find the best prices.
