Christmas Decor Kept Simple
Simple and Elegant Holiday Decorating Ideas
Christmas is the biggest holiday of the year and many people want their decorations to be a spectacular showing of lights and figurines. While there is nothing wrong with this approach it can often become a huge dent in the pockets due to the electric bill. I myself love going to see the gigantic displays of light that some people work so diligently to build but when it comes to me I like to keep it simple.
I believe less can be more in most instances. Proper coordination and arrangement can be just as eye catching as a house completely covered in lights
Decoration Ideas for a Budget
Outdoor Christmas Decorating - Lots of lights can be beautiful but simplicity can be masterful
When it comes to lighting some people go way too far over the top. Too many lights can seem cluttered and an eyesore if it is not properly coordinated. Too many random colors or color changes can drastically take away from what could otherwise be a beautiful display. Using simplicity can be a great idea.
Try decorating with only a few complimenting colors. For instance, if you use all blue lights to outline the frame and windows of the house and highlight the trees and bushes with all green lights it will appear more attractive. You will also want to match both sides of the house. I have seen examples where one window is lined in randomly colored blinking lights and the other window with solid white or another color. Houses like this appear to be poorly done. Using the same color lights does not increase the cost of the decor so it is worth giving it a shot.
Remember to always coordinate your colors!
Indoor Christmas Decorating
Everyone knows that no indoor Christmas decoration is complete without a Christmas tree but what about the rest of the house?
You always want to keep it tasteful and uncluttered. I love garland and figurines on mantles. It looks classy and doesn't take up any space. I also like the use of candles when properly placed. Fruit is a great decoration for a coffee table! It is also a tasty snack for the holidays. Stockings can be wonderful wall decoration for unused spaces.
A little garland and a few lights can turn an otherwise plain staircase into a beautiful Christmas display as shown in the photo. Try to keep it simple as possible. Overdoing it is always bad. Too many decorations can be as bad as ugly decorations.
Remember to use moderation when decorating inside of the house.
Beautiful Christmas Tree!
