Colorful Hydrangea Blossoms

Updated on February 28, 2018

Hydrangeas are so Lovely!

Beautiful, Colorful Hydrangeas

Colorful Hydrangea Blossoms adorn our yard with various shades of blue, purple, pink and white. It is hard for me to look at a Hydrangea Blossom and not smile. The beauty that God has created with these Hydrangea Bushes brings joy to many. I know that we sure enjoy them.Hope you enjoy these Hydrangea Pictures taken around our yard. I am not sure about the names of our Hydrangeas but maybe you can help me. Just let me know what you think the various varieties are that we have in our yard.Photo Credit: The Hydrangea Photos on this page are by Nancy Hellams aka OhMe and not to be copied.

Big Daddy Hydrangea

The Big Daddy Hydrangea has Blue Blossoms in Acid Soil - and Pink Blossoms in Alkaline Soils

Big Blue Hydrangea Blossoms

The Big Daddy variety of Hydrangea is fast growing and often used in landscaping but can also be seen in pots as young plants. This particular plant of ours is being taken over by our very large Limelight Hydrangea and I hope we don't loose it. We lost a very old and large Big Daddy Hydrangea several years ago because it was taken over by our Camellias.

Did you know that Aluminum sulfate will change a neutral soil to an acid one. We have never added any and enjoy being surprised by the color the blossoms become. It would be fun to experiment with the soil, though.

Endless Summer Hydrangea

I am almost positive that this is an Endless Summer Hydrangea but not 100%. It does bloom early and is very hardy. It is close to the house and has so many various shades of pink, purple and blue all on the same plant.

Blue Lace Cap Hydrangea

Delicate Blossoms of the Blue Lace Cap Hydrangea - A Gift from our daughter

I really love our Blue Lace Cap Hydrangea and it has grown so much in the last couple of years. The many blossoms are so very unusual and a beautiful shade of blue. They are light and airy looking. I noticed that a limb had actually rooted in the ground so I will have another one of these coming along. That is always a nice surprise when that happens. I have held limbs to the ground by placing a brick on it but this one just did it naturally.

I think it would be wonderful to be able to make an arrangement all year round out of Hydrangeas but guess that would not be possible.

The Limelight Hydrangea blooms later and is so different and beautiful. They are also gorgeous dried and used in arrangements. I hope you will visit my separate page about this wonderful Hydrangea.I've been told that my little critter friend is a Carolina Anole.
