The real question ought to be "Why would anyone want to remove the tag?"
This is a funny question, read the fine print. There are no mattress police. There are no pillow police either, ........yet. Who would report you?
I believe the tags say "Not to be removed under penalty of law except by the consumer". So if you have already purchased the matress, then you would not be breaking any laws. I wonder if anyone has ever been arrested for tearing off the tag before buying. That would make a funny news headline, but I have seen weirder ones than that before, so it wouldn't surprise me.
