My dryer gets wet inside when I'm not using it. What is causing this?
My dryer dries my clothes fine. I had a repair man out and he said he thinks the vent is clogged and lets in rain, etc. This just started happening after 10 years. Help!
No, I live in Nashville. No sea. I live in a townhouse and the air vent is on the roof. The repair man said that he thinks water gets in from the vent and pools around at the bottom of the vent and leaks over into my dryer. It just started happening and seems weird. My dryer dries my clothes just fine - no problem. But, after about 15 minutes, it's all wet again!
Do you have a directional hood on your vent exit to stop rain entry?
If, as your repair man believes, your vent is blocked, how can that let rain down, rain would enter an unblocked vent more easily, and it hasn't done so for 10 years? I'm more inclined to believe it is trapped water vapour that has condensed and is running back down the pipe.
It's possible that the outside vent is blocked open. Especially in hot weather, if the vent is not closed, condensation will build up inside the dryer when it gets dark and cooler.
